Raffles and Poker Runs

All raffles or poker runs conducted within the City of Centralia must obtain a license prior to the event.

Eligibility for license. Raffle licenses shall be issued only to bona fide religious, charitable, labor, business, fraternal, educational or veterans' organizations that are non profit and have been in existence continuously for a period of five (5) years before applying for a license or to a nonprofit fundraising organization that is organized for the sole purpose of providing financial assistance to an identified individual or group of individuals suffering extreme financial hardship as a result of an illness, disability, accident or disaster. The five-year requirement under this subsection may be waived if the organization is a local organization that is affiliated with and chartered by a national or state organization that meets the five-year requirement.

Annual licenses are $50.00 and permit the licensee to issue or sell raffle chances for multiple events throughout the calendar year of issuance. Event licenses are $15 and permit the licensee to issue or sell raffle chances only for those dates stated in the license application, but in no event shall the period of sales exceed ninety (90) days. Poker run annual licenses shall permit the licensee to conduct multiple poker runs throughout the calendar year of issuance. Poker run event licenses shall permit the licensee to conduct a poker run only on the date stated in the license application and in the locations stated in the application.

Maximum value of prizes. The aggregate retail value of all prizes or merchandise awarded by a licensee in a single raffle shall not exceed five hundred thousand dollars ($500,000.00).

Price of chances. The price charged for each raffle chance sold or issued shall not exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00).
